Research and Management:

• Provide leadership by managing high quality services and develop customer-oriented teams for technological problem solving and delivery. Plan and contribute to the professional growth of junior colleagues.
• Commissioned of the first Spirulina mass production plant in India. Developed process strategies for increasing productivity, a mathematical model for predicting the performance of Spirulina ponds. (1991-93).
• Adenosine deaminase, is one of the early model systems for developing gene therapy protocols. Identified a mechanism of tissue specific expression of this gene by differential transcription elongation block. Characterized the sequences responsible for transcription block. Developed an in vitro reporter system for transcription control. (1986-90) Commissioned of the first Spirulina mass production plant in India. Developed process strategies for increasing productivity, a mathematical model for predicting the performance of Spirulina ponds. (1991-93).
• Studied the regulatory aspects of interferon-cell interactions. Observed the loss of IFN?? as a result of interaction with fibroblasts and correlated with pharmacokinetic data. Unlike IFN?? and IFN??, IFN?? - induced antiviral response was mediated through a secondary molecule leading to an indirect cascade. (1982-86).
• Developed manufacturing process for several commercial enzymes: proteases, amylase, amyloglucosidase, cellulase; strain improvement; novel process for cattle feed improvement, jute up-gradation and health food formulation. Developed process know-how for increasing plant productivity in the conversion of sorbitol to sorbose. (1976-82).
