Prathista is first of its kind in the concept of “Waste into Wealth” a biotechnology project that was technically wetted and financially supported by Technology Development Board, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. Prathista is enjoying the best reputation with its funding agencies, nationalized banks (State Bank of India and Andhra Bank), investors, business partners as well as associates, and esteemed customers nationally and internationally.

Now, Prathista Industries Limited is one of Asia's largest industrial fermentation establishments. Prathista is manufacturing and marketing wide range of “Eco-friendly and Bio-Technology products”. A unique feature of Prathista is having both the “aerobic and anaerobic fermentation facilities” under one roof for dealing with multiple strains simultaneously by using carbohydrates as raw material. By dealing with various microbes including fungus for production, Prathista cater the needs of multiple segments viz., Pharma (gluconic acids & its salts, lactic acid & its salts, Lacto gluconates), Food (Natural mold inhibitor, cheese ingredient, natural vinegar, and natural meat preservative) , Animal health care (cattle or poultry feed supplements), Agriculture (organic agri inputs, bio-fertilizers, bio-Pesticides, bio-control agents, botanical crop protectors), Organic solvents and Bio-Fuel etc.

Prathista was founded by Dr KVSS SAIRAM but with only 27% shareholding and rest of the shareholding was owned by many VCF’s and potential partners who were keen to promote India based indigenous technologies.

Recognizing Prathista’s potential, Technology Development Board, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India and a pioneer Nationalized bank - CanBank Venture Capital Fund Limited, Bangalore (32% shareholding) and few more VCF’s have invested in Prathista’s equity with premium at an initial stage of the Company. This financial participation and continuous guidelines of the investors in the board by financial partners helped the company to grow professionally to achieve its desired goals.

In reciprocation to this noble support, Chief promoters have brought back total equity stake from these investors with mutually agreed terms in 2009 and now 92% shareholding is owned by Family members and 8% of the company stake owned by two US companies who valued the company’s enterprise value to @65 million in 2018 and participated in company’s equity as preferential shares for 20 years lock-in period as potential business partners with buy back arrangements of few natural, non GMO food ingredients to market products in entire North American markets, on exclusive basis.

Prathista started its in-house Research and Development centre at very initial stages of the company with capital investment of just Rs 70 lacs which is recognised by DSIR – Govt. of India, Ministry of Science & Technology as in-house corporate research centre and later Prathista gradually collaborated with various national and international laboratories and academia for conducting joint research activities.

Prathista Founder promoters viz., Dr. KVSS SAIRAM, Ms K Vaishnavi & Mr K Phani Raj Kiran applied for 8 national patents and 7 international (PCT) patents to protect IPRs developed by Promoters to protect Prathista interests.

The basic focus of in-house R&D centre is to provide value addition to plant based carbohydrates and proteins.

Prathista in-house research & development centre was first recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India. Subsequent to this recognition, Prathista R&D centre has been recognized by few Universities & academia as a training station for Post Graduates and Ph.D. students for conducting research.
