PRATHISTA SULPHUR

PRATHISTA SULPHUR

Availability: In stock

Prathista Bio Sulphur addresses all Sulphur deficiencies in crops. This formulation is available in the granulated form for soil applications. Bio Sulphur is as potential to its credit for any other type of Sulphur based fertilizers.

Sulphur is one of the 16 essential plant nutrients occupying fourth place in fertilizer management (after N, P & K). It is a major nutrient for higher protein and oil production. Sulphur is essential for the growth and development of all crops. Most of the plant's requirement of Sulphur is absorbed through the roots in the sulphate (SO4-2) form. Like many essential nutrients, Sulphur also has certain specific roles to play in the plants. Such unique roles cannot be replaced by any other nutrient.

How to identify Sulphur deficiency in different crops?

When the Sulphur presence in growing plants drops down to below the critical level required, visual symptoms of Sulphur deficiency start appearing on the plants. The appearance of such symptoms indicates a serious condition because this leads to decreased crop yields.

Most of the Sulphur deficiency symptoms are similar to Nitrogen. They are pale-yellow or light-green leaves. Unlike Nitrogen, Sulphur deficiency symptoms appear first on the younger leaves and persist even after Nitrogen supplementation. In cotton, tobacco, and citrus some of the older leaves are affected first.

Plants deficient in Sulphur are small and spindly with short and slender stalks. Their growth is retarded, maturity in cereals is delayed, nodulation in legumes may be poor along with reduced nitrogen fixation. The fruits do not mature fully and remain light-green in color. Forages of such low sulphur will make undesirable wide nitrogen to sulphur ratio which leads to lower nutritive value.

Once the sulphur deficiency symptoms have been confirmed, soil needs to be applied with readily available sulphur for quicker results. The liquid-based supplement is more advisable to protect the crop from sever sulphur deficiency.

Benefits of Prathista“Bio Sulphur”

  • Helps in protein synthesis and grain enhances grain protein content: Sulphur is the constituent of the three main amino acids namely cysteine, cystine, and methionine. These amino acids are building blocks of protein synthesis. About 90% of the plant sulphur is present in these amino acids.
  • Formation of chlorophyll: The green substance present in the leaves and other above-ground plant parts with a functional role in photosynthesis is chlorophyll. Plants produce starch, sugars, oils, fats, vitamins, and other vital compounds through photosynthesis.
  • Increases oil content of seeds by synthesizing oils. This is why adequate sulphur is so crucial for oil seeds.
  • Activation of enzymes in biochemical reactions within the plant.
  • Bio Sulphur increases both crop yield and produce quality. These two factors are important for determining the market price of a product for the farmer.
  • Specifically with reference to quality, Sulphur improves oil percentage in seeds, plant protein content, cereal quality for milling and baking, marketability of copra, quality of tobacco, forages etc.

Bio Sulphur granules provide a slower release of sulphur. However, it will show its beneficial effect on all crops from the third day of application. The effect will last till 22-25 days from the date of application and is totally bio-available (totally absorbable) to all crops. On the other hand traditionally available Sulphur based formulations are having limitations in terms of its effect and bio-availability (only 15-18%). Therefore, Bio Sulphur is designed with 25-27% totally absorbable Sulphur for effective applications.
